Joined Sep 21, Messages The Duxbury modems from a few years back also supported caller ID in South Africa but the new ones no longer do, apparently there wasn't a high enough demand for this feature.

I phoned the local Duxbury technical support a couple of months ago and they said that they have a firmware upgrade that can be uploaded to support caller ID on their new modems but that you would need to bring the card in to be upgraded not sure why they can't just release the firmware. One of the other things that can be quite useful is if you have a Skype Box connected to your phone line it can show caller ID information for your Skype calls, this still requires a modem with caller ID though.

Sometimes it is necessary to enter an AT command in order to enable you modem to support caller ID, the relevant commands as well as how to test if your modem supports caller id can be found here.

Lastly note that just because the description on the box states that the modem supports caller ID doesn't mean that it will work in SA, there are different forms of caller ID depending on which country you are in.
