You can display messages in several colors, a couple different font sizes and a couple different brightness levels. Longer messages can scroll across the sign or short messages of around 15 characters can display without scrolling. Before I bought my sign I read in another thread that it's best not to put the sign in direct line of sight where you sit to watch TV or read.
The sign can be a distraction. This was a good suggestion. Mine is easily visible by looking to the side of the room but it's not situated right in the middle of the living room. I ran it for 7 months on 1. Apparently, messages cannot be sent to the sign via the Event's Action tab in HS2.
I use scripts to send messages to the sign so this is not a problem. The sign is one of my favorite additions to HS. I display weather info and device status info. If there is a weather advisory the sign will beep three times and display the advisory. My garage door is very quiet so when the door goes up the sign beeps two times and displays that the garage door is opening.

Are you using scripts to control it? So far I have a device configured for each zone and I've started working on a script to control the length of watering time based on the forecasted temperature.
But for now I'm going to use the simple approach of scheduling the irrigation for once every three days for xx minutes.
