Rosetta is a software translator that allows machines with Intel processors to run software written for PowerPC processors. Aside from the possibility of some independent coder devising a workaround, it looks like this spells the end of being able to run PowerPC software natively on Intel Macs. Will this be a problem for you?
Because not all users will be willing to update software packages as the thousends of Euros costing Adobe creative suites only for being able to work with Lion. Maybe marketing companies will do so, as they ever hold their software on the newest versions, but those, which do not work extensive with these software programs will update only after 3 — 5 years.
Now, they would have to update all, and this will be very very expensive. Switching to Windows-PC will be a real alternative for them now. Apple capitulates and adds Rosetta support to Lion due to consumer demand. Someone develops a hack that causes Lion to allow Rosetta to be installed from a Snow Leopard disc, or. The lack of Rosetta in Lion is quite a problem for me. Huge fricken problem.
Killing off Rosetta is really stupid unless Apple was getting killed on royalties to transitive. We are a small newspaper. We have proprietary databases with proprietary clients that require rosetta to run. I will not be able to do this. The loss of rosetta is going to cost them thousands in just my case alone.
My upgrade money will not go to Apple, but to companies that refurbish units. I hate that, but it is all I can do. I wonder if its possible to use Rosetta from the Can anyone give this a try? This will indeed be a big problem for me. However, I have two old applications that I must access from time to time.
There are two old 4D databases containing transaction records for a closed down businesses. I periodically need to look up information there. It would not be economically feasible to hire a programmer to migrate these old databases to a newer version of 4D. Microsoft did not provide export capabilities. There is information locked into that scrapbook file that I need to access a few times each week.
At this stage I would simply like to uninstall, but the uninstaller provided by Norton with the software returns an error and does not do anything.
Thanks for any help or information. I was able to re-download it from that link, so hopefully, you should too. Are you running firewall software? Try turning it off temporarily. What program are you using to download the file? I guess my Norton firewall posed the problem - after turning it off I was able to download the file.
And, the uninstall worked! Thank you for your help! I can't access the file :'- I just get a "Cannot coonect to server" error every single time Can someone please attach this to this hint somehow, I need it for more than one system. Or, could someone just post the contents of the. It's just a script isn't it? Totally agree here. Norton AV is worthless crap that's always the source of headaches.
All Symantec products are. Only way to go. While I completely agree that Norton products should be kept off your Macs these days , I recently had a need for NAV when a friend contracted a Word virus from a Windows user, natch.
Unfortunately, ClamXav, as truly wonderful as it is, only detects viruses; it does not repair them as NAV does. I tried Virex as an alternative, but it too has system extensions, automated schedulers, and tons of other CPU hogging components that are part of the required install, like NAV I'm back to NAV 10 for now, but will watch this thread closely.
Sadly, this is a required install in my office because we send and receive tons of scripts. Many mail agents won't accept attachments with viruses, and lots of scripts are sent to us with macro viruses on them that HAVE TO be removed in order to forward them on. We have to fix problems we never created or were affected by. The last time a 'Norton' product was actually worth installing was when Peter Norton was still doing the coding.
Then finally i got an application Stellar Phoenix Mac Recovery software which comes as a rescue for me and recovers my all data and files. Lost your password? You must be logged in to post a comment.
